Project to develop overseas sales channels for intermediate material
At this exhibition, the SMP took the lead and announced participation; eight companies joined the project. The presentation ended successfully as a project that aims to develop sales channels not as consumer goods but as intermediate materials for the high-end market in Europe and the U.S., including materials created by the fusion of Japanese traditional and artisanal techniques and cutting-edge technologies.
Two months before the exhibition, SMP's consulting division became independent as Vision Marketing Inc. and took over the hosting of this exhibition.
The company exhibited in the "SIGNATURE" area, a section dedicated to materials for the premium interior market, including luxury hotels and residences, high-end brand stores, and private jets. It is a driving force in the global high-end interior design market. As its high quality and diversity have earned it a growing reputation among those involved year after year, we see it as an ideal venue for the overseas development of the excellent materials of "high value-added" Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises.

In developing sales channels for intermediate materials in Europe, we have found an ultra-end (luxury) segment of the market that the high-end class cannot capture.
This research aimed to clarify what kind of intermediate materials they are looking for by interviewing architectural and design firms that target the luxury market and exploring the possibilities of sales channels for materials in Japan.

Summery of the Project
1) This project aimed to develop sales channels not as consumer goods but as materials.
2) The first exhibition was held at Maison & Objet in Paris in September 2017, and the second at M&O in September 2018 in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Organization (SME).
3) The exhibition booth was called "IMAGINATIVE MATERIALS" and attempted to propose Japanese architectural materials and materials that stimulate the imagination.
In this report, we introduced the possibilities for the luxury market that came to light through this project, highlighting the efforts of 13 companies and two more case studies.
